MEP design-build for 400,000 sqm Muscat Airport terminal with 3 piers, 34 bridges, power & O&M.

Overview

BEC Group undertook comprehensive MEP works on a design and build basis for the 400,000 sqm Main Passenger Terminal at Muscat International Airport. The project scope included three piers equipped with 34 boarding bridges, a 40 MW standby DG power plant, and extensive infrastructure works. Key features comprised a 34,000 TR chiller plant with a thermal energy storage tank, a 26 km external chilled water network, SCADA and BMS systems, floor cooling, specialised air outlets, cooled cold water systems, swimming pools, fountains, and advanced lighting solutions.

The works also included an aircraft wastewater disposal system and 625 valve chambers. In addition to the design and build scope, BEC Group provided full operation and maintenance services for the Passenger Terminal and the District Cooling Plant, which includes 27,000 TR of cooling capacity, cooling towers, a 16 km underground piping network, and integrated fire alarm and firefighting systems.
